By Killeen M.Gonzalez

The Folkston Church of God held a Rock-a-thon on March 29th, 2008 from 2 to 5 pm to raise money for the American Cancer Society as part of the annual Relay for Life program.

Sister Faye Hardin was in charge of organizing the event. The Honey Bees ( Twyla Hardin, Tammy Cowart, Tina Cowart and Latasha Cowart ) were in charge of refreshments. Sister Marilyn Bennett also assisted in the organization of event.

Church members from the Adult Sunday School class; George Hardin, Frieda Nettles, Delia Hickox, Billy and Christine Moore, MJ and Doyle Phillips, Devon Hardin, Penny and Ricky Sikes were the official “rockers” as was Edith Dixon, a resident of Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation for Folkston.

Together the group’s efforts raised approximately $400.00. This is the first time that both Folkston Church of God and Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation for Folkston have participated in the Relay for Life.

The Folkston Church of God would like to remind everyone that all are welcome to attend their services and hear the good word of the Lord from their Pastor Kip Boswell.
